Nobuharu Matsushita wins sprint race in Monaco

Monaco Feature Race: Tough race in Monte Carlo rewarded by points for ART Grand Prix.

Sergey Sirotkin lost the advantage of his pole position at the start. He was then running 2nd and chasing Nato to get his position back. He was closing the gap when he lost control of his car and hit the wall. This ended up his race but fortunately, the driver is doing well after the incident.

Starting from 12th on the grid, Nobuharu Matsushita did well on his first run. He then came into the pits after 8 laps for soft tyres. The pace was good and he crossed the line in 9th position. Following a driver’s penalty, he’s been classified 8th, adding 4 points to his score. Therefore, Nobuharu will start tomorrow’s race from the reverse pole position.

Nobuharu Matsushita wins sprint race in Monaco

Starting from reverse pole, Nobuharu Matsushita made a good start and kept the lead of the race until the chequered flag. He did a great job on track, pace and tyre management was really good. This was a perfect race for the Japanese driver as he also set the fastest lap of the race.

Meanwhile, teammate Sergey Sirotkin has been unlucky today again. 21st on the grid, he moved up to P17 on the first lap but suffered and extinguisher issue on lap 11. Sergey had no other choice but stopping his car at the casino. Nevertheless, the Russian scored 4 points in Monaco thanks to his pole position on Thursday.

Next race will take place in 3 weeks’ time on brand new Baku street circuit.
